Stop Hating Low-Code Platforms

There have been a lot of new players in the low-code space over the years. And InfoLobby is definitely one of them.

But a lot of people seem to complain about them. The main complaint seems to be that they're too complicated.

What are the alternatives?

Code-from-scratch

Code gives you the ultimate power. If you can write code, you can achieve just about any desired outcome (software-speaking of course).

However, this can take a lot of time, and a good measure of skill. It's a solution for programmers only.

Or for managers with money and time, willing to pay and manage programmers to do the work.

At the end of the day (read: many months or years later), you can have the solution you envisaged. Even if it's out-of-date by now.

The point is, you can achieve anything, given skill and a lot of time.

On the other hand, we have ...

No-code platforms

This covers basically every single app in the world that is NOT low-code. All that software apps provide, is an easier way to do things than having to do it manually, or write tons of code to get the job done.

But these apps are opinionated. That's why there are hundreds of CRM's out there, and thousands of Project Management systems. Everyone does the job just a little bit differently.

You have to find the one that matches your business the closest, and matches your budget, and has the features you need. You probably won't find one that matches all criteria exactly, so you'll end up changing your business process slightly to overcome any shortcomings.

These apps are easy to adopt and quick to get up and running.

But the complaints here are endless:

  • App can't adapt to changes in business process
  • Data is disjointed creating need for more apps to bring them together
  • etc

Low-code for the Win!

This is where low-code platforms shine.

You can get up and running quickly with basic functionality.

Need complex processes? No problem - just add a little code. Just a little.

Changed in business process? No problem - just tweak your platform and the little code you have in it.

Don't know how to code? Only a minor problem. The community can often help, or you can hire someone to help.

And remember here, you're hiring someone for a little bit of code. Doesn't take that long and isn't that expensive. Or copy, paste, and adapt by interacting with the community - only costs you some time.

In Closing

To say low-code tools are too complex is stopping you from enjoying the true freedom that these low-code tools can deliver.

If you stick with the easy no-code tools, you have to deal with the frustrations of disjointed data and mismatched business processes.

Either way you have some pain. Choose your pain so that future YOU will be happier.
